Leadership From The Start

In its first month, courts & co. arranged the purchase of georgia railway & power company common stock for a local syndicate. One year later, courts & Co. became the sole underwriter in a public offering for the preferred stock of georgia railway & power, which subsequently changed its name to georgia power company.

First Branch Office Opens

Courts & Co. provided diversified financial services to investment banking clients and individual investors throughout the southeast and maintained a private wire link to new york city. Early success led to a branch office in macon in 1927.

Richard W. Courts, II

Chairman

Richard W. Courts, II is Chairman of Atlantic Investment Company, a family-owned firm that has a rich history of making equity investments in both public and private businesses as well as commercial real estate. Mr. Courts joined the investment banking firm of Courts & Co. in 1959 at their New York City office in their Trading Department. In 1963, Mr. Courts moved to the Atlanta office as a member of the Investment Banking Department. In 1968, he became a general partner in the firm. Courts & Co. was sold to Reynolds Securities in 1969. After the sale of Courts & Co., Mr. Courts became associated with Atlantic Investment Company where he has served as President and is currently Chairman. Mr. Courts served as a Director of SunTrust Bank, Cousins Properties Incorporated, Genuine Parts Company and Atlantic Investment Company. Mr. Courts also served on the Civic Boards of Piedmont Medical Center, Inc., The University of Georgia Foundation (Trustee Emeritus and Former Chairman), J. Bulow Campbell Foundation (Chairman), Price Gilbert, Jr. Foundation (Chairman), Fraser-Parker Foundation (Trustee), Courts Foundation (President), John and Mary Franklin Foundation, Inc. (Trustee) and the STI Classic Funds (Trustee). Mr. Courts graduated from The Westminster Schools of Atlanta and received his BBA degree from the University of Georgia. He also attended New York University in New York City.

Malon W. Courts

President & CEO

Malon Courts is the President and CEO of Atlantic Investment Company Malon’s responsibilities span across multiple wholly-owned and related businesses operating under the umbrella of Atlantic Investment Company. Malon is Managing Partner of Colony Capital Management, LLC, a Registered Investment Advisor; a Manager of Five Stand Capital, LLC, a private equity business. He is also involved in several civic roles: Trustee and Chairman of the Investment Committee, J. Bulow Campbell Foundation; Chairman of the Board, Roanoke College; Trustee and Chair of the Endowment Committee, Lovett School; and a Trustee of the Courts Foundation. Malon is also a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization, Southern 7 Chapter. Malon graduated with a BBA from Roanoke College.

T. Brad Courts

Vice President

Brad Courts is a co-founder of GreenCapRE and a Director at Atlantic Investment Company, where he concentrates on growing Atlantic’s platform companies in real estate, private equity, and asset management. An Atlanta native, he began his career leasing and managing the historic Hurt Building, which was owned by the Courts family for 72 years. Brad has been in real estate and investments for the last 25 years. He is a licensed real estate broker in Georgia and Investment Adviser Representative registered with the SEC. He holds the Certified Financial Planner and CCIM designations. Brad serves on the boards of the Courts Foundation, the Price Gilbert, Jr. Foundation, the Fraser-Parker Foundation, and the Lewis H. Beck Foundation. Brad received his BA from the University of Mississippi.

Clay L. Courts

Vice President

Clay Courts has found success in his career through his entrepreneurial spirit and his ability to identify and expand operating companies. Clay began his career as a Vice President at the Atlantic Investment Company and Atlantic Realty Company. He focused on managing their real estate holdings as well as their public and private equity holdings. Through his management of various residential, retail and office real estate assets, such as the historic Hurt Building (a 436,000 square foot Class-A office building), Clay developed a strong entrepreneurial spirit. In 2000, Clay co-founded ExecuCourt: Private Office Suites, an executive office suite business, and developed over 75,000 square feet of office space integrated with a variety of technology solutions. ExecuCourt achieved success by serving small and regional business owners at competitive rates with a high degree of customer service. After the sale of the Hurt Building and ExecuCourt in 2007, Clay partnered with Jerry Harrison to co-found Five Stand Capital. Their goal was to expand on their past experience and success of growing businesses through operational excellence. Clay graduated from Roanoke College with a BAA.

Richard Courts is a Principal at Atlantic Realty Company, a 75 year-old private commercial real estate firm. Richard offers his clients a sophisticated approach to implementing a full range of commercial real estate solutions. He uses his extensive market knowledge to develop and implement comprehensive real estate occupancy cost reduction strategies for his clients. These projects range from the acquisition or disposition of real estate holdings for corporate clients and Fortune 500 companies to multi-market relocations and lease renewals. Prior to Atlantic, Richard was a central member of the Carter Brokerage Services division for more than 20 years. Throughout his career, Richard has gained the trust of his clients, resulting in a long-term relationships approach. Richard serves on the boards of the UGA Foundation, the East Lake Foundation, The Schenck School, the Blanche Lipscomb Foundation, the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Foundation, the Community Foundation of Greater Atlanta, and The Dean’s Advisory Council at UGA Terry College of Business. Richard received a BBA in Finance from Terry College of Business, University of Georgia.

Sara E. Pace

Vice President, Accounting

Sara Pace is the Vice President of Accounting at Atlantic Investment Company. Sara provides responsible oversight and assistance with all accounting, tax, audit, and investor reporting matters. She is also responsible for financial statement preparation and is directly involved in all day-to day accounting functions. Prior to joining Atlantic Investment Company, Sara spent 7 years as a senior auditor at a regional public accounting firm. Ms. Pace specialized in auditing investment companies and investment funds ranging in size from $15 million to more than $500 million. Sara received a BBA in Accounting from Georgia Southern University and an MBA, also from Georgia Southern University.

    Richard W.
